Gregg County Emergency Communications (GCEC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization consisting of amateur radio operators whose primary goal is to promote severe weather awareness and provide emergency communcations service to Gregg County, Texas.

GCEC, in conjunction with the National Weather Service, provides severe weather forums and SKYWARN training courses twice yearly to enhance the understanding of severe weather. GCEC provides trained SKYWARN spotters for the City of Longview as a part of the National Weather Service STORMREADY requirement.




GCEC volunteers also take part in American Red Cross Damage Assessment training in order to assist with disaster relief efforts. GCEC communication support to the American Red Cross greatly enhances the response time into areas affected by disasters.



In accordance with the Texas Department of Homeland Security and the Governor's Office of Emergency Management, GCEC maintains the ability to respond to local government calls for assistance by providing Texas Certified RACES radio operator support outlined in FCC part 97. Operations are conducted in a formal RACES format.





Gregg County Emergency Communcations is funded entirely by private donations.
